Today, I did three things:
1. Went to the Gap, where they proceeded to send me home early, which they do all the time (to save on payroll, when the store isn't doing as well as expected). A three-hour shift is a waste of time, but whatev.
2. Met Angela and ate sushi. Dinner #1 (of 2).
3. Dinner #2: Met Derek Davidson and Sean Ater of LANIER MIDDLE SCHOOL, because I've got deep roots like that. Derek also went to HS with me, and he's been in Baltimore doing Teach for America, so I've seen him over the past year or so, But until tonight, I'd seen Sean once since 8th grade, at a party in high school, when he was dating a friend of mine. We didn't really talk then, not least because Sean doesn't say much (not as much as I do, anyway). At one point, when he was talking, I caught myself giggling:
Claudia [to Sean]: Oh, my God, do you know what's hilarious? You talk exactly the same as you did in 8th grade.
Derek [to me]: You know what else is hilarious? So do you.

It's SO WEIRD how we change, and yet we totally don't at all.

I haven't updated my little blog here in quite a while; sorry to those of you who check religiously, because you have nothing better to do. I got called out on Liz-O's blog last week, compelling me to answer one of these blog questionnaire things. Allright, Liz, I'm your huckleberry.

1) What was I doing 10 years ago?
At 15, the summer before my sophomore year, I was doing precisely what I am doing right now: Hanging out at home, watching Turner Classic Movies all day long. But actually, since we're having serious cable issues at my house (Comcast is my newest mortal enemy), I am only just *wishing* I could watch TCM right now, while at 15 I was really doing so. That was also before American Movie Classics started SUCKING ASS and showing movies from the 1990s, with commercials. So I was flipping between classic movie channels. Bob Dorian and Nick Clooney, I miss you like hell.

2) What are 5 things on my to-do list for today?
It's 8pm, which is mid-day for me, and I've managed to do several things I meant to do today:
(a) I called the Yale Graduate Housing Office to see if there was a possibility of me getting a dorm room with a private bath, before I sent in my housing contract with deposit (I'm waiting to get called back).
(b) I watched The Battleship Potemkin (1925), the first of the movies on my personal film syllabus, which I created for this summer so that when I start school and I'm all like, "I study film," and somebody else is all like, "Oh, really? Have you seen [insert seminal silent/foreign film]?," then I can be all like, "Yeah, duh. Who do you think I am, somebody who only watches Hollywood sound films of the studio era? Please."
(c) I called back my H-town/high school friend Luz, who didn't pick up. But I left a message.
Things left to do:
(d) Twist my hair.
(e) Play the Sims 2.
And it's totally okay if I do neither of those things today.

3) Snacks I enjoy:
Muffins -- blueberry, but also cranberry. Peanut M&Ms. Baby carrots. Watermelon. Peaches, particularly the scrumptious ones my mom recently bought. Trail mix with raisins and stuff, which I used to buy from the Maryland Food Co-op at my last heinous job. (As opposed to the heinous jobs I previously had, which didn't have any co-ops.)

4) Things I would do if I were a billionaire:
Pay off my parents' mortgage and all us kids' student loans and credit card debts. Then figure out how to make the money kick-start the revolution. Maybe by bankrolling one of those think-tanks that hires smart people to sit around and just figure out how to fix things. And then using the money to implement those ideas. Oh, and I'd probably buy some of the work-out pants with a 35" inseam that I found online but can't afford at the moment. ($50! I will be in my Target shorts for the next while, thanks.)
